April 22, 2011

Work has been slow at Liberty Farm but it has been happening. It's just hard to photo document all the little things that have been going on. Plus, it's nice to just plain enjoy living here and not have to work 8-10 hours days on the house. Here are some photos of work and leisure!

The Great Room complete with cat on floor.

My office - no excuse not to work now.

The staircase is coming along. The risers are permanent. The treads are still stacked in the garage awaiting polyurethane.

Insulation in the floor over the radiant tubes now complete.

Composter.

Cats love the sofa. Hence, we have to vacuum it every day.

Nightly ice cream.

Hamlet, the prince of pillows.

The last of the insulating - under the stairwell.

Who needs a greenhouse?
Stair treads.

Note he's wearing a mask! Safety first!

My Aunt Athleen's silver. I've had it for over a year and just now began cleaning it. This is only 1/4 of it. It's pretty but boy is it hard to keep clean.

April 15th

Two words: COLD AND MUD.  I want warm, sun and summer. Is that too much to ask?

April at Liberty Farm

Front window trimmed and painted

My teeny office - ready for writing.

Another view- The "I Luv U" sign on the wall was given to me by JD when he was about 10 years old.

Really feeling guilty

Honestly, I haven't forgotten this blog. It's just that there have been other things going on beyond Liberty Farm these days. First, Liberty Farm is now Liberty Mud Farm. I don't know if we will ever dry up. Beyond that, Jon has been busy working on finish work - trimming windows, putting in mop board, closing in the stairs. He's also begun his spring work - potting up elderberries, which are residing in the garage presently. He is going to build some cold frames for them if it ever stops snowing long enough! I bought a desk for my corner office so I guess I do not have any excuses any more for not working at home.

I spent Wednesday through Sunday in Washington, D.C. for the National Writing Project Spring Meeting. It was intense for sure - met with Senator Collins, Senator Snowe's aide, Representatives Pingree and Michaud. Kristina McBean and I pled our case for funding for the NWP and provided our congressional delegation with information about the work of the two sites of the Maine Writing Project.

Now it's on to job interviews. I have a campus visit at Husson coming up, and I received an e-mail from UMA Bangor yesterday about scheduling a visit there for the English position. I did a telephone interview with UMA Augusta last Tuesday for the education position. Sheesh! First I got nothing and now I've got three possibilities going on.
