Day 107

What a day!!! It has been the fifth snow day for me. We had heavy wet snow that turned to rain later this afternoon. Jon plowed early this morning and then again this afternoon and this evening. It's a mess but what can one do about the weather. When it melts, yikes!  I may have to have a rowboat to get out of here.  Jon and worked hard to finish the kitchen today. The pictures below tell it all. We can't wait to get the counter top on and begin cooking! First, any good job needs supervisors. These are ours.
Supervisor 1.

Supervisor 2.
The kitchen that Jon and Cindy installed.

I made all the measurements and marks for the microwave while Jon plowed. I was wicked happy when all the screw holes lined up, and it actually fit!

We have dubbed our kitchen "The Galley."

Another view.

Day 106

Today we worked on permanently installing the kitchen. It is almost done: only two more base cabinets to go in. It is amazing how much time it takes to do it all right. If tomorrow is a snow day at school (and it looks like it will be), we will get the last two cabinets installed.

Day 105

Today was a day of digging out: plowing and shoveling here at Liberty Farm and at JD's house. After a full morning of that, we went to Lowe's and purchased the interior doors for the Carriage House, the fan for the living room, and bathroom accessories. We still had time to finish hanging all the upper cabinets in the kitchen and then off to Delvino's for a much deserved night out.

If there is any kind of empty basket or box, Hamlet is in it.

Upper cabinets are all in; the bottom ones are all marked and ready to be secured to the wall.

Day 104

Today was a day of odd jobs. The front closet with shelves and nicely organized.

Bedroom closet. Tomorrow, I will go to camp and collect the rest of our clothes.

Bathroom mirror successfully installed.

Our motto!

Christmas present from Brooke. Perfect over the sliding door.
Centerpiece: candles and tulips.
More freakin' snow.

My Woody's outside, all covered with snow. I thought of that Beach Boys' song today as I looked out over Tessie the tractor and the camp.

Day 103

Today, I cleaned the garage and took all the cardboard from the kitchen and appliances to the dump. It was a good job to get done. Then, Jon and I put the plow on the truck in anticipation of tomorrow's snow. We will pick up work on the kitchen tomorrow.

Day 102

Putting in upper cabinets.

Learning that math skills are essential here.

Mottyl and Hamlet have settled back in nicely.

Day 101

Mottyl and me chilling on our new sectional sofa.

Today was a fun day of doing little chores. Our new sofa was delivered; that was exciting. The cats are settling in. I went to Rockland to get my hair cut and to run a few errands. It is just fun being here and getting settled in.

Day 100

The cats came home today. Hamlet likes the view.

Exploring the new place.

Dad was happy to see Hammie.

Just like he never left! Mottie, however, is still hiding under the bed.

Getting the kitchen in. Carrying those corner cabinets up the stairs was not fun.

We finally brought the dining room table up from the camp.

I knew it would look great in front of the doors. The temporary table to the right will be gone soon!

Day 99

No more trips to the privy.
A little crowded but it feels good to have our stuff back.

Days 96 and 97

The cold that I have been avoiding finally caught up with me. I've been home sneezing my brains out for two days. However, the work on the Carriage House has gone on without me. Yesterday Ken came to help get Jon started with tiling the bathroom floor. Today he finished it and laid some more flooring in the great room. All our new appliances were delivered today as well. All in all it has been two very productive days for Liberty Farm.
Shhh. Don't tell anyone but this is his time tiling!

And, he s doing a wicked good job.

Our temporary living room until we get a new sofa.

Bathroom tile - done!

The poor guys from Fortin's had to drag all the appliances, except the washer and dryer, upstairs. I gave them a $10.00 tip and told them to stop at John's Ice Cream on the way back to the store.

Range, dishwasher, and microwave.

Sweet refrigerator.

Day 95

Our bed. This means WE WILL SPEND OUR FIRST NIGHT IN OUR CARRIAGE HOUSE TONIGHT. Jon got the bed out of storage  today and brought it to Liberty.

No kitchen yet but we made a makeshift kitchen. Ralph, we borrowed your electric hot plate. We owe you big time!

Day 94

We are so close to moving in! We set Friday as the day but if Jon can get our bed from South Thomaston tomorrow, we may just be able to be in tomorrow. We will see what happens!

Floor going down in the great room. Of course, Hope has to insert herself in the picture.

Sweet!!! My "office" is done!

Tile going down in bathroom.

Lights in Kitchen!!!!

A well lighted place with Hope ears for good measure.

Day 93

Bathroom lights!

Shower light.

Bedroom floor complete.

Great room floor beginning.

Our official first supper at the Carriage House. I prepared it at camp and delivered it to the Carriage House: grilled pork tenderloin, steamed English peas, and sweet potato fries accompanied by a red Zindfandel.
